Seattle CARE
Chief Amy Barden from Seattle CARE (Community Assisted Response and Engagement) joined us to discuss her role and work with the Seattle CARE team, which was established in 2023 as the third branch of public safety.

The Seattle CARE Department operates the 9-1-1 Communications Center and the Community Crisis Responder (CCR) Team. The 9-1-1 Communications Center initially screens all incoming 9-1-1 calls within the City of Seattle and oversees public safety radio dispatching of Seattle Police Department (SPD) personnel and CARE CCRs. The 9-1-1 Communications Center is also responsible for answering the City of Seattle non-emergency line at (206) 625-5011.

The CARE team currently has 24 members, and Chief Barden anticipates growth and expansion of the department. If you are looking for a non-emergency response, she recommends asking for a welfare check.

Mayoral endorsement
The Seattle Hospitality for Progress PAC Board brought forward a recommendation to endorse Mayor Bruce Harrell for re-election.

This recommendation was approved by the membership group and will allow the PAC to donate to Harrell’s campaign and potentially engage in independent expenditure spending.

Next SRA meeting:
Our next meeting date will be Oct. 8. Follow updates from the Seattle Restaurant Alliance for  location information.
